The Gate is a local Charity set up to prevent or relieve poverty and improve the conditions of life of people who are marginalized, facing exclusion, vulnerable or homeless in the Clackmannanshire area. We do this by undertaking projects which offer practical help. Presently, our primary projects are a Soup Pot, Starter Packs for homeless people going into their first tenancy, and a Food bank, which runs on a referral system.
Our organizational aim is to establish a community centre and a range of activities primarily focused on those who are disadvantaged in our community. The centre will include a drop in café type venue, office, training kitchen, showers, laundry, medical room and project work space. It will also house the Food bank.
Our Vision is to serve the needs of the community by offering practical help and choices for positive change. We will provide a safe and welcoming environment that is open to all, particularly the vulnerable, marginalised and homeless. A place where everyone will be treated equally, with dignity and recognized for their individual unique worth. We will work to provide opportunities to build confidence, release potential and realise aspirations that all have an equal place in our community.
The Gate Centre is located in the heart of Alloa town centre in the former North Church building and will provide a range of services to meet the needs of our community.
